Castle: Ask Ausiello Spoilers 4/19

Warning: Spoilers! Do not read below, if you wish to remain spoiler free!

Question: I know you have already given us a lot of tidbits about the upcoming Castle episodes, but we are still dying (no pun intended) for more! Any other items you can share about the upcoming L.A. episode with Castle/Beckett sharing a hotel room, or the explosive season finale? —Cheryl
Ausiello:
How about some scoop on the episode sandwiched between those two? “Because the finale is serious and the L.A. episode is very much off-pattern for us, we had a lot of fun with the [penultimate] episode,” explains series creator Andrew W. Marlowe. “It’s about a death at a beauty pageant. We have Michael McKean (Smallville) playing a New York real estate multi-millionaire who runs the beauty pageant. Teri Polo (Meet the Parents) is in it as well. It’s just a fun Castle episode, but it also touches on the Castle-Beckett relationship, and also the Alexis/Ashley relationship, because Ashley is going off to college and that presents a complication for Alexis.”

Question: Any more scoop on the big obstacle coming up for Castle and Beckett in the Castle finale? —Andy
Ausiello:
Something happens that “puts their identities fundamentally at odds,” hints Marlowe.

Question: Can you deny or confirm that the death on Castle will stick? Because I smell a fake-out. —Bree
Ausiello:
You might want to investigate that smell because the death will stick. (What did you have for lunch today? That’s always a good place to start.)

Question: What’s up with the 3XK killer storyline on Castle? Are you ever gonna hear about that again? —Brittany
Ausiello:
Yes, but not until next season.

Stana to play Lenore Kandel in Michael Polish’s Big Sur

By in April 15, 2011 • Filed in: Uncategorized

Stana has landed a new movie role. Her webmaster tweeted THIS earlier, saying Stana would be playing Lenore Kandel in Michael Polish’s Big Sur. I did a little digging and found a few articles that reveals the rest of the cast. Production is already underway, so we’ll keep everyone updated with news as it surfaces.

EXCLUSIVE: Director Michael Polish has started production on the 1960s pic Big Sur, setting Dogville’s Jean-Marc Barr to play Jack Kerouac, Josh Lucas to play Beat Generation fixture Neal Cassady and Kate Bosworth to play Billie, the woman linked to both. The drama covers Kerouac’s move from New York to Northern California, as he tries to rediscover himself after badly handling the fame, drugs and decadent lifestyle that came with his groundbreaking novel On The Road. Anthony Edwards, Radha Mitchell, Balthazar Getty, Patrick Fischler, Stana Katic, John Robinson and Henry Thomas are also in the Polish-scripted film. 3311 Productions, a newly formed financing/production company, funded the film. Polish produces with 3311′s Ross Jacobson, Mark Roberts, Eddie Vaisman and Adam Kassen. Orian Williams is also producing.

Castle: Andrew Marlowe on ‘Explosive’ Finale

By in April 14, 2011 • Filed in: Uncategorized

Warning: Spoilers! Do not read below, if you wish to remain spoiler free!

OK, here’s the deal: I want to tell you that the May 16 season finale of ABC’s Castle is going to be mind-blowing. I’d like to say that it’s going to be epic, that it’s going to further along the investigation into the murder of Beckett’s mother (and in a big way), and that it’s even going to further along the relationship between the detective and our title author (though not necessarily for the better). But instead, I’ll let executive producer Andrew W. Marlowe tell you. Cool? Cool.

TVLINE | How much of the finale is about Castle and Beckett’s relationship?
It’s essential in the finale.

TVLINE | I feel like there’s nothing standing in the way of them getting together at this point. I was watching the scene at the end of Monday’s episode thinking, “And Castle isn’t making a move here because…?”
It’s very challenging. And it’s something I need to address for next season. I don’t think the audience is ready for [a Castle/Beckett romance] yet, even though the ‘shippers are crying out for it.  I feel like it isn’t quite time for them to get together as a couple. But I do recognize that they have to move to a different level in their relationship and there has to be a significant obstacle to them getting together. So for me it’s how I do that in an honest way.

TVLINE | Can you rule out a reappearance by Gina and/or Josh?
I can promise you that they will not be showing up in the final episode. That element is relatively played out for us. And our audience has extended us some good will on that front. But we have other surprises in store.

TVLINE | Can you confirm that there’s a significant death?
I can confirm that [someone] we’ve seen many, many times before does die in the finale.

TVLINE | Does the death tie into the murder of Beckett’s mother?
It’s both tangential and significant.

TVLINE | Speaking of which, is it safe to say there’s a breakthrough in that case?
We will learn a significant amount about the conspiracy…  Something happens to Hal Lockwood [the sniper introduced in this season's "Knockdown" episode], and it opens up an avenue of investigation in such a way that Beckett feels that she can get close to the real person behind all of this.

TVLINE | Anything else can you say about the finale?
The season is going to end with a pretty explosive climax that has to do fundamentally with Beckett and Castle’s relationship. There’s a crisis that is very much intertwined with the emotionally raw aspects of Beckett having to deal with her mother’s case again. And it’s a cliffhanger. Fans should be prepared for that so they don’t bitch me out.

Castle: 3×22 “To Love And Die In L.A.” Stills & Synopsis

While investigating the shooting death of her ex-partner in New York, Beckett comes to believe the suspect has fled to Los Angeles. Against orders, she travels to L.A., going renegade to track down the killer, with Castle unexpectedly along for the ride. As they dig deeper into the motives, they uncover a trail that leads from a rooftop pool in Hollywood to the sandy beach of Santa Monica. Along the way, they visit the set of the “Heat Wave” movie (based on Castle’s book) and enlist the cast to help break the case. But as they get closer to apprehending the killer, Castle begins to wonder whether Beckett is out for justice — or revenge.

Castle: Beckett & Castle Heating Up

By in April 13, 2011 • Filed in: Articles, Castle, Spoilers

Warning: Spoilers! Do not read below, if you wish to remain spoiler free!

The final minutes of last night’s Castle propelled Castle and Beckett’s relationship into new territory, making San Francisco fans eager to see what happens next.

After a bit of prodding, Castle (Nathan Fillion) admitted that he was jealous of Beckett’s (Stana Katic) new friendship with a fellow writer, which prompted the detective to admit that he had nothing to worry about, she’s a one writer girl.

“Though it was in the guise of their writer/muse relationship, Castle practically admitted that he wanted Beckett to himself,” said San Francisco fan Lesllie Addams. “And her repeating his ‘always’ line pretty much confirms that she feels the same way.”

Fans will get a better taste of Beckett’s feelings when the duo head to Los Angeles to investigate the death of her former partner in the May 2 episode. The installment will feature a slew of guest stars, including rock star Gene Simmons, Prison Break’s Dominic Purcell and Off the Map’s Jason George. Will fans get what they’ve been waiting for when Castle and Beckett shack up in a Beverly Hills hotel?

“She certainly thinks about it, and considers it,” Castle creator Andrew W. Marlowe told TVLine. “She’s emotionally raw because they’ve come out to Los Angeles in the aftermath of the murder of her training officer, so she’s dealing with those emotions and kind of where she is in life.”

The relationship will continue to develop when Beckett and Castle return to New York and revisit Johanna Beckett’s murder in the May 16 season finale. With the stakes higher than ever the two just might make the giant leap the series has been leading up to.

“There will be a significant moment when they’re on the same page,” Marlowe told TV Guide. “And we’re not gonna have a situation where (Beckett’s boyfriend) Josh shows up and interrupts things.”

What did you think of last night’s Castle?
