Castle: 3×17 “Countdown” Canadian Promo
I personally think this is much better than the American promo for the episode! A huge thank you to Caroline for uploading this!
Adrian Pasdar Previews Tonight’s Explosive Castle
Are you a television showrunner currently in need of an actor to help inject some much-needed gravitas into an upcoming guest spot? Have your people call Adrian Pasdar’s people, and stat!
“This will probably come as a shocker and a detriment to my agents and mangers who will hate hearing this, but the real interesting characters are the ones that support.” said Pasdar to the TV Addict during a recent one-on-one interview promoting tonight’s guest appearance on CASTLE. “Leads are so overwritten and underdeveloped, the real juice is in these supporting roles, they’re far more interesting.”
Case in point: Tonight’s episode of CASTLE, the first of an explosive two-parter that sees Pasdar play arrive on the scene as a hard-nosed no-nonsense Homeland Security Agent when a routine murder investigation unveils a far more sinister plot.
“Agent Fallon is an entirely fictional character as written, but as I played him he’s based on an entirely real person that I know. I’ve been very fortunate to make friends and spend some time with a handful of government agents and this character is drawn from my experiences with them.” revealed Pasdar when asked about the type of preparation that went into playing his CASTLE character. “There’s a very well canvased feel to this guy, he’s very well rounded and just when you think you get to know him and you’re certain that he’s an a**hole, you get some information that forces you to recast the light in which you look at him.”Of course, one thing CASTLE fans needn’t worry about when it comes to the next two episodes ? aside that is from the fate of millions of New York city residents as a result of a terrifying threat reminiscent of 9/11 ? is the status of Castle and Beckett’s will-they-or-won’t-they. Unlike the majority of the men who seem to drop by NYPD’s 12th Precinct, Fallon isn’t that kind of guest star!
“If anything, Fallon’s presence really isolates Castle and Beckett more as a collective entity, it polarizes the show, and really puts them together. I become one end of the seesaw and they are both on the other end.” explained Pasdar on the affect his guest staring role will have on our leading players. “In a strange way, Fallon unites the twosome, putting them literally physically closer together by virtue of the fact that I am such a presence on the other end. Not me Adrian, but the character of Fallon, he’s that strong and well drawn of a character.”
Which is just one of the many reasons Pasdar relished his guest-starring role on the show.
“So often it gets said, but it’s no less true here that it was just an amazing experience working with Nathan [Fillion], Stana [Katic] and the entire cast and crew. The stakes were raised, the game seemed to be played on a higher level ? not then they usually play it but then it’s usually played in general on TV due to the nature of what we were dealing with: A potential threat to New York City that echoed 9/11,” admitted Pasdar. “While there is tongue-and-cheek comedy that Nathan delivers so well, and Stana and the rest of them, there is a gravitas to the show and I got to spearhead that which was really just a wonderful experience. I was never once asked to take my foot off the gas which is rare. It really is an amazingly written turn of events that Andrew Marlowe put together, and was a joy playing.”

Castle Interview With Adrian Pasdar
This article doesn’t really pertain to Stana very much, but it does mention her character on Castle, as well as the show, which she is a part of. So, I decided to bring this news here.
Tell me about the character you are playing on “Castle,” Mark Fallon.
As written, the character was an entirely fictional creation by [executive producer] Andrew Marlowe. As played, it was based on a very real person that I know. It’s a combination of the best of both worlds, I think: imagination and reality. To be able to bring a guy like that into a set like “Castle,” especially one that’s so well-defined by Nathan [Fillion] and Stana [Katic], Jon [Huertas], Seamus [Dever] and Ruben [Santiago-Hudson], it’s nice. Because it’s somewhat polarizing. It makes everybody go to where they have to be, to where they live, in that little corner, including me. We all kind of run for cover into who we are in the first episode. The second, we come together. It’s a very interesting process. It doesn’t happen a lot on TV. That’s the one shot that I think guest stars are given, to be able to flesh out characters in a show by their very presence. That’s kind of what we did.Who is the real person that inspired your portrayal?
I can’t tell you. I can’t say a name. A former FBI agent is a friend of mine. I had the great opportunity and fortune to spend some time with [the FBI] and some time at Quantico.ell me about the case Mark Fallon is investigating.
It’s an echo of what happened in New York during 9/11. There’s a potential threat to the city in the form of a dirty bomb that needs to be stopped and the people who have gone to great lengths to fashion this bomb need to be found and they’re missing. That’s the set up. The first episode is about finding what it is we’re looking for and the second episode is about finding the people who made the bomb and then obviously trying to find the bomb before it goes off. I don’t want to give anything away, but I think you’ll find that New York doesn’t blow up. Smarter minds could probably handle it better, but I don’t know any other way to say that “Castle” will be on the following week. But it’s about the process of finding something that could possibly take down New York. In terms of what’s going on emotionally, [Castle] and [Beckett] go through some stuff. Professionally, I come in as a DHS agent to a precinct in New York. I’m kind of a foreigner coming in to school them on how to get stuff done. I’m kind of the outsider. There’s the requisite tension that happens from that. It’s very well put together.Beckett calls your character a douche. Is that accurate?
No! Here’s the thing. In the middle of the second episode, just when they think they’ve got Mark Fallon figured out and know why he’s such an a–hole, [Ryan] comes in with a little bit of information that thoroughly explains who Fallon is and why. If you judged him before, you’ll feel guilty. It all becomes very clear why he’s doing what he has to do to protect the people he’s going to protect. It’s really, really well written. You and Nathan Fillion both starred on cult shows on Fox that were canceled before their time. Did you bond over “Castle” and “Firefly”?
We bonded more on a purely male level. We really just started getting along the second or third day. Fart jokes became huge. I think that’s a pretty good sign between boys when things are going well, when they start making fart jokes. There’s a [fart noise] app Nathan has on his iPhone that’s actually really funny if you’re, like, twelve. He makes it very well known to the gang on the stage. It’s very funny. We started bonding from that. It took off from there and became summer camp humor. We get along very, very well. How does the sexual tension between Castle and Beckett escalate in this episode.
They get put together in a situation where they can’t get out, literally. It’s a room [where] they can’t get out and they’re forced to deal with what’s going on between them, what might go on between them, what has happened. It’s a somewhat polarizing effect that Mark Fallon has on the two of them, and they’re forced to become more of who they are. Without giving away too much, you know how the show works. If they were ever to cut the tension… but I think it gets as taut as it could possibly get. Will we see you on future “Castle” episode or on a new television series next season?
As far as another TV show, I’ve never really based anything on pilot season. Now [opportunities] are endless, with cable and all the shows. I’m very happy cable is the medium that I’ve chosen for the past ten years. Obviously, having little boys at home I don’t want to go away for three months and make a movie. If I find something good that I love, I’ll do it. If not I’m going to sit back and wait and cherry pick things like “Castle.” I am not in any hurry. I’m very fortunate to have been included in the show “Castle.” It may continue. There’s a very good chance that might happen.

Ask Matt: Chicago Code, Castle, Fringe and More!
So, I’m not entirely sure what the person asking the question is referring to, but so glad that Matt clears up the misunderstanding!
Question: I love the show Castle. It seems to me that each actor is perfectly suited for their role. But I watched a clip where the actors were discussing their respective roles on the show and Stana Katic kept her head down, turned to the side with her hair covering her face and never looked up even when talking. Last week’s episode really showed how great an actor Katic can be: i.e, the bar scene where she gets close to a suspect to arrest him. My question after watching this clip: Is Katic not happy with her role and planning on leaving the show? I certainly hope not. After all, how can you replace perfection? — Tom
Matt Roush: Perfection? If you’re that big a fan, by all means get your hands on this week’s issue of TV Guide Magazine, with its cover story on Castle — and a cover photo shoot where Stana Katic really brings it. From the outtakes I saw with her andNathan Fillion , I didn’t sense any unhappiness there. I’m not familiar with the clip you’re referring to, but maybe she just wasn’t feeling it that day. Nothing I’ve heard or seen indicates she’s out of sorts or unhappy with how they’ve developed Beckett. Seems to me like she’d consider the character a gift.
